Opening gifts - I had to make it under 10 minutes so there are some parts that are sped up... not very exciting.

Only 6 weeks to go!
Hi Friends and Family!
Our wonderful friends, Sarah and Audrey, threw us a fabulous shower last weekend. It was great to have so many of our friends and family there to celebrate the upcoming arrival of our Little Buddy! My parents were able to be there, too, which was very fun. One of the activities of the day was decorating baby "onesies" with fabric markers. Every guest decorated a onesie, so not only do we have lots of baby clothes now, the designs ranged from amazingly artistic to adorable to hilarious. We'll definitely take pictures of Little Buddy wearing them!
My folks were in Santa Cruz over the holidays, which was lots of fun. We took some day trips to Point Lobos, and the Monterey Bay Aquarium (where we learned about seahorses - the only male animal species that gives birth!), and did lots of mellow hiking around Santa Cruz.
Joe and I are, slowly but surely, getting our place ready for Little Buddy's arrival. Our den is being transformed into a baby room, but right now it looks like a tornado hit. I read about couples who have their nurseries all set by the 5th or 6th month of pregnancy, but I guess Joe and I are procrastinators. Plus, Little Buddy doesn't really need much. Just a place to sleep, a boob, diapers, and lots of LOVE!
I am getting bigger and bigger, as the recent pictures show. I still feel great, but maneuvering around is a bit more uncomfortable and awkward. Sleeping is also challenging, but I seem to be getting enough sleep because I'm not tired in the mornings. I think Joe is the one struggling with sleeping more than me -- he has to wear earplugs because I snore, and I flip around so often, it must be a bit annoying.
Little Buddy has the hiccups everyday now, which is very cute. I'm told that hiccups are a good sign of baby's health! I also feel Little Buddy's movements pretty consistently now. S/he seems to be on a schedule, and - I think - s/he mostly sleeps during the night!
Joe and I have been reading books to Little Buddy in the womb, and talking to Little Buddy everyday. We can't wait to meet this little person! Joe is so wonderful when it comes to supporting me and the babe - yesterday he went out to get me a burrito in the rain!
Only 6 weeks to go (maybe less?? maybe more!) Hard to believe, but I'm definitely feeling ready.
Hope all of you in CA are enjoying the rain. I love this weather!
hugs and love,
*joy, joe and little buddy
